Week 20 - Back to video edits, Midsummer magic, and a house full of family

Week 20 felt like a little reset after the previous week’s inbox marathon. Malin was back from vacation, which meant I could finally update her on everything that had been going on while she was away. The work was still busy, of course, but there was a slightly calmer feeling to it — or maybe I was just getting better at pretending not to be overwhelmed.

Monday, 15th of June, was my last day of being fully in charge of the international email, and I also finished up the Excel list for the Swedish course. It felt a bit like finally tying up a loose thread, which is always satisfying when you’ve spent days living inside the same email inbox and the same spreadsheet. Not dramatic, but definitely a nice little victory.

Tuesday was all about catching Malin up on what had happened during her vacation. I also met with Ida from Communications about the interview films, and she taught me a few tricks while asking me to shorten and edit the videos. So, naturally, I found myself back on YouTube again, learning even more editing tricks like a very determined and slightly overcommitted amateur filmmaker.

Wednesday brought the usual mix of international emails and TimeEdit tasks from Alice, plus editing Signe’s interview video. At this point, it felt like the week was built from tiny pieces of work that all needed to fit together properly, which is oddly satisfying when it works and mildly annoying when it doesn’t. But little by little, things were getting done.

Thursday continued in the same direction: international emails, more editing, and trying to get Signe’s interview into the exact format we needed — 1:1 frame, maximum three minutes, all polished and ready to use. It was a lot of fiddly work, but also the kind of task where you can really see progress, which makes it easier to stay motivated.

Friday was Midsummer holiday, so work disappeared in a very welcome puff of Swedish summer air. We left for my boyfriends grandpa’s farm and summer house, and the weekend turned into exactly the kind of countryside escape you’d hope for after a busy week.

We ate, napped, jumped into the lake in Stockebäck, and spent lots of time speaking Swedish with Sebbe’s (bf) family. There were also two adventurous bus rides, a surprise thunderstorm, and, as if it wasn’t already the best weekend ever, plenty of cats!

Not the most traditional Midsommar weekend, but so far my favorite holiday!
