Week 22 - Concerts, Vet runs and lots of Emotions

Week 22 was one of those weeks that somehow managed to be everything at once: quiet, stressful, exciting, emotional, and surprisingly productive. The office kept emptying out as more and more people headed off on vacation or switched to working from home, so the whole place started to feel a little ghostly. On the bright side, I had my videos, my inbox, and a lot of editing to keep me busy — and that turned out to be a very good thing.
Monday, 29th of June 2026, started with me noticing just how empty the office had become. By then, almost everyone was gone or working from home, so the day felt a bit lonely. I spent most of it continuing with the videos: adding subtitles, exporting drafts, sending them to Ida for feedback, and hunting down copyright-free music that wouldn’t get me in trouble later. But the evening more than made up for the quiet office. Vincent, Sebbe, and I went to see System of a Down live at Strawberry Arena, which was such a highlight. We all showed up in various bits of band merch and had an amazing concert night. Getting home around midnight was already surreal, but the fact that it was still bright outside somehow made the whole thing feel even more unreal.

Tuesday took a turn in a much less fun direction. When we woke up, Albus — our cat — was clearly not doing well, so we booked a vet appointment for the same afternoon. I went to work with my head very much elsewhere, worrying about the little meowing creature at home. Still, I managed to get some work done, and even got to bring Vincent to his train, back towards Gothenburg, before meeting Sebbe and Albus at the vet. From this point on, the week basically became a cat-and-vet storyline.
Wednesday was another worrying day, because Albus wasn’t any better. We took him back to the vet in the morning and spent most of the day moving between testing rooms, waiting rooms, and the Tunnelbana. I was lucky enough to work from home, since I was still editing the videos on my laptop, but it was hard to stay focused when I kept thinking about the cat and what the tests might mean. Thankfully, my boss was very understanding — she has a sick dog herself, so she knew exactly what kind of week I was having.

Thursday brought a small but very welcome relief. I worked in the morning and was able to pick Albus up from the vet around lunch time. That evening, I finally finished my first video, which felt like a real milestone after days of cutting, subtitle-ing, exporting, and re-exporting. The fact that the cat was feeling better too made it feel even more worth celebrating. So I went out to get some essentials for him — special food, medication, all the practical care stuff — and I treated myself to using the gift card I had for the craft supply shop. After such a heavy few days, that little creative shopping spree felt surprisingly comforting.
Friday was another long editing day, but at least things were moving forward. I had one last vet visit in the morning for some ultrasound pictures, and then I went back to the international emails and the video editing that had been running in the background all week. By the time the day ended — later than expected, because of all the interruptions — I had finished 3 out of 4 videos. I also got feedback on the first one, and it was amazing. Ida said it was great, which felt incredibly encouraging after such a full week. Then I finally got started on the last video, the one I had been dreading a little because it needed the most editing.
The weekend was mostly about recovering. Sleeping, relaxing, and trying to shake off both the stress and the emotional weight of all those vet visits felt exactly right after a week like this. Not glamorous, but definitely necessary.
