Week 6 - "Vet du vard du ska liksom?"*

After the rush of Erasmus deadlines, this week finally settled into a more structured rhythm. There was still plenty to do, of course, but this week felt more like learning the ropes in different corners of the office — the kind of week where you slowly start understanding not just what to do, but why everything is happening in the first place.

Monday started at 8am with Infodesk-duty, handing out temporary blibs to students arriving for their entry-exams and helping them find their way around KMH. I answered questions about where to find toilets, food, and other necessities, which sounds small, but somehow becomes very important when you’re the person standing between stressed students and total confusion.
Swedish class also fit into the day, keeping the week in its usual bilingual balance.
Tuesday began early again at the Infodesk, and I basically stayed there all day while also taking my laptop down so I could answer emails in between everything else.
There was also a meeting about Erasmus changes and how-tos, plus more work on my presentation for the Study Abroad Fika.
It was one of those days where I felt very present in the building, even if my tasks were spread across several different worlds.
Wednesday continued in the same general direction, with more time at the Infodesk and more work on keeping the international email up to date. There was also the Wednesday meeting, which gave another chance to check in with the team and keep up with everything going on.
Between that and the Fika presentation, the day was full but manageable in a very satisfying way. To end the day with a bang we had an excursion to Skansen where we learned about the olden ways of living and saw some animals. My assignment for the day: Order Fika in Swedish 🇸🇪 - Mission accomplished!!
Thursday began with Infodesk-duty until 10am, followed by a meeting with the other trainee in the communications department to brainstorm ideas for a short film for the new students of the 2026/2027 term.
Later, the full communications team met so we could present our ideas and get feedback on that, as well as on some Erasmus promotion video ideas Malin and I had been thinking about.
After Swedish class, the day ended with date night at a Greek restaurant near work, which honestly felt like the perfect reward. My favorite on the menu? Halloumi with apple jam - absolutely delicious!
Friday was a calmer helpdesk day, which made it easier to work on my video ideas and prepare interview questions. I also started making a bingo card deck for the Study Abroad fika, which was definitely one of the more fun tasks of the week.
Just before lunch I also got to test my - still very rocky - Swedish as an old man walked up to the Infodesk looking for his nephew! In the end we found him and he and I had a good laugh!
It felt like a small but nice shift from handling questions to actually creating something with a bit more personality.
The weekend was anything but quiet, though, with a house party in Västerås, lots of cider, and funny movies. A good reminder that even the busiest weeks usually end with something worth smiling about.
*my weeks motto: Swedish, loosely translated to "Do you know where you need to be?" - guiding students to the practice and exam rooms!
